Planning a drip irrigation system for one acre
A one-acre system is not a single fixed kit. Crop spacing, number of rows, field shape, water source and available pressure determine the quantities and system layout.
Information needed before sizing
- Crop and row or bed spacing
- Field shape, slope and distance from the water source
- Available water flow, storage and pump details
- Soil and water quality considerations
- Whether installation and delivery are required
Typical system components
A complete design may include driplines, mainline and submain pipe, a filter, valves, connectors, flush points and a pump or tank connection where needed. The quantities and specifications should be calculated from the actual layout.
The field may need to be divided into zones if the available flow or pressure cannot support the entire area at once. Confirm sizing against the product specifications before purchase.
